I will go back to Minnesota for my evaluation
Dec. 6 and 7th
…Gwenette Winstead ( John and Gwenette, owners of one of the cabins )
booked my complete flight on Dec. 6 and 7 using her business traveler air miles!
Our Green River family is so extraordinary!
We are praying for good results on all tests for Tammy
and Jenna’s continued health as we prepare.
In the face of so much loss of the marina we wanted you to know
that “our” people really are special.Jenna is the Daughter of Floating Cabin owner Mike and Tami Hayes and The Niece of houseboat owner Roger and Michelle Graham…we will update this as we are updated Thanks for your prayers.
Marie
Hello to All,
Please share this
as there is little doubt I will leave someone out!
I apologize in advance…
Jenna and I have returned from snowy, cold Minnesota
where a 3 day evaluation was completed for Jenna’s
future 2nd kidney transplant
Thanks to everyone whose kind words and prayers
traveled with us North and back again!
The doctors at this world renown transplant center
agree that the best course of action for Jenna
is to move forward to a second kidney transplant
they also agree that preparing for this to happen
prior to even the first hemodiaylsis treatment is
the best course
Jenna has now completed all preliminary testing
that can be done prior to this transplant
( it was a very busy time in Minnesota )
Tammy had the necessary blood work done
for the process of matching antigens with Jenna
these results will be available in 7 to 10 days
The hopeful outcome of this testing is NEGATIVE
this will mean that Jenna and Tammy’s blood play
nicely together and that Tammy’s kidney would
be a good match for Jenna
If, in 7 to 10 days we are given the news that
a NEGATIVE result has been found,
Tammy will need to travel back to Minnesota
for the full donor evaluation / workup
so, we are eagerly waiting …….
As a precaution Jenna’s name was added to the
National Registry for a kidney
currently in the U.S.A.
there are 86,244 individuals waiting for a kidney
as of Wednesday, Jenna became number 86,245
some factors move you forward on this list
factors like age, good health, having had one successful
transplant etc.
but, we were told that even though Jenna may move up
slightly the wait time for a deceased donor kidney
would be at least 5 years, so, as you might
suspect
we ask your prayers for a negative result
and the continued “go” for Tammy to be the donor!
Jenna’s kidney function had decreased slightly
and she continues to spill both too much salt
and protein
so,
we ask your prayers for her current kidney to hang
in there a little longer!
her blood pressure to not become a factor
and her general health during this cold and flu season
It is our greatest hope and prayer that in 7 – 10 days
we will be reporting back to you that we have a NEGATIVE
result and Tammy is on the schedule for the full donor evaluation/
workup!
Our love to ALL,
Tammy
Hello All,
Since none of us knows what may happen in the next 60 seconds it seems a little ridiculous to tell you about what may happen in the next 6 months doesn’t it!?
Jenna has had a phenomenal run for over 20 years with her daddy’s right kidney!
Things are slowly changing and a course has been set for the next leg of this journey.
As always we appreciate the prayers, love and support of our family and friends, therefore, I am writing to outline the plan as we know it….
Jenna’s kidney is currently functioning at a little less than 16 %
the iron infusions, blood transfusions and the increased medications
have all helped, but, at 16 % the kidney is not removing as much toxins
as it should from the body and is causing her a continued decrease in appetite,
fatigue and the need to sleep longer and longer
First, Jenna will see a vascular surgeon within the next week
and he will schedule surgery to implant a vein ( hopefully from her own body )
to a direct artery.( in the arm ). This vein will have to “grow or mature” for at least 2 to 4 months
and will be used for hemodialysis
It is her nephrologist hope that Jenna can wait for as much as 6 months from now to begin hemodialysis.
During this process outlined above Jenna will be seen very routinely and any adjustments will be made and Tammy will begin the donor process with the transplant team
at Jewish Hospital here in Louisville.
This too is not an overnight occurrence. There are lots of checks, balances and hoops to jump through to determine our compatibility and such.
Meanwhile, there are no medical emergencies!
Jenna had a mild urinary tract infection today being treated with a common antibiotic.
This process will be played out in as long a time as needed with hopefully as few bumps as possible. We will keep you posted!
Love to All,
Tammy and Family
